Pet-A-Bulls (NM)

Pet-A-Bulls, Inc. was founded solely to address the state of New Mexico’s overwhelming overpopulation and homeless pet problems.

While their primary focus is on American Bullys, American Staffordshire Terriers, American Bulldogs, Old English Bulldogs, American Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, all Mastiffs, and other “Bully” type breeds, virtually all canine breeds are considered if space allows.

PAB focuses entirely on carefully selecting dogs from high-kill shelters in New Mexico after they have been thoroughly examined and evaluated, in order to avoid unnecessary euthanasia.

All intakes are carefully screened before being placed in in-home foster care with persons who are a good match for their care.

Under its existing setup, the group is unable to take dogs directly from the public.

Watermelon Mountain Ranch (Rio Rancho, NM)

Sophia and Lee DiClemente’s dream in early 1996, shortly after they moved to the area, was to establish a no-kill animal shelter in New Mexico.

Every year, hundreds of lost, abandoned, and stray animals are euthanized in New Mexico.

WMR began rescuing and rehoming animals in Sandoval County and Albuquerque with the help of a group of like-minded volunteers.

WMR has worked hard to involve the local community and youth organizations in an educational effort to reduce pet overpopulation.

They have developed programs for children and teenagers to get them involved in working with animals and volunteering at their facilities and adoption sites.
