Central Texas Dachshund Rescue

Central Texas Dachshund Rescue

CTDR (Central Texas Dachshund Rescue) was established in September of 2000.

Since then, its membership has increased year after year, allowing more foster families and volunteers to help dachshund owners find loving, forever homes for their dogs.

Despite their name, they are no longer limited to Central Texas and have members and volunteers from around the state.

The majority of CTDR dogs come from Texas animal shelters where they are about to be euthanized.

If a suitable foster home is available, this rescue will accept animals from the wider population.

All Texas Dachshund Rescue

All Texas Dachshund Rescue

All Texas Dachshund Rescue (ATDR) is a group of volunteers whose main goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home injured and often endangered Dachshunds that have been homeless for one reason or another.

It is their policy that no dog will be adopted unless they have been spayed or neutered, had all immunizations updated, are heartworm negative, are on heartworm prevention, and have had all other health concerns that they deem crucial to the pet’s life treated to the best of their ability.

ATDR rescues Dachshunds throughout Texas, with a focus on Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Seguin, College Station, and Beaumont.

All arriving Dachshunds will be placed in temporary foster homes and assessed while living inside with foster families in a secure and caring home setting until they are ready to be placed in a loving, adoptive, permanent family.

Houston Pets Alive

Houston Pets Alive

Houston Pets Alive (HPA) is a non-profit organization founded by Andrea Birkelbach in 2014.

This group is constituted of animal-loving volunteers and personnel who work diligently to rescue every life in danger.

HPA is not a conventional rescue, operating as a safety net for municipal shelters, rescuing animals with no other options.

Every day, this rescue receives a list of animals in danger of euthanasia and strives to save as many as they can as long as they have sufficient foster caregivers.

They recognize that saving lives is a collective process, and they are determined to save the lives of those that others won’t.

Friends for Life

Friends For Life

Friends for Life is a Houston-based organization that works to help animals in need in the community.

After much effort, the charity was able to relocate to its very own facility in the Heights in 2012.

They carefully planned the shelter with the animal’s comfort in mind.

The abundant natural light and clean lines make this a welcoming environment for adopters and volunteers.

FFL recognizes that the potential to save animals is directly proportional to the number of available foster homes.

They will continue to work to provide the animals with a forever home as well as everything else they may require.
