Lab Rescues in Florida (List Updated for 2023)

Alex Vicente • Updated on September 29, 2022

If you’re looking to find a Lab Rescue in Florida you’re in the right place.

Before you check the rescue centers below, please make sure you’re aware of how big a responsibility is to foster or adopt a dog, particularly Labradors.

You need to know they may have pre-existing medical conditions and may need to be followed by a vet periodically.

You should also be aware that animal cruelty is a punishable crime.

If you plan to rescue a Labrador Retriever, you should also know about they use their paws a lot, which makes them even more adorable.

The rescue centers below are presented in no particular order.

Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Inc.

Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Inc.

Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida (LRROF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for Labrador Retrievers.

This group is comprised of dedicated volunteers and veterinarian partners.

It began as a grassroots group in 2000 and has grown to become one of the most successful committed breed-specific rescues in the state of Florida by utilizing the abilities and techniques of its volunteer base.

LRROF provides foster care, veterinary treatment, spaying/neutering, and microchips for the Labradors in their adoption program.

Their mission is to find these dogs suitable permanent homes.

Prior to adoption, they assess the rescued Labradors’ background, temperament, personality, and energy level.

A written application and a home visit by a possible adopter are part of the placement process.

Florida All Retriever Rescue

Florida All Retriever Rescue

Florida All Retriever Rescue (FARR), Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer rescue organization dedicated to preserving the lives of unwanted and abandoned dogs in Florida, with a special emphasis on retriever breeds.

FARR specializes in Retriever breeds (Labradors, Goldens, Flat Coats, Curly Coats, Duck Tollers), although other large breed dogs are occasionally seen.

Before adoption, all of their dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm tested.

The adoption fee is determined by breed, age, and demand.

They are exclusively volunteers, with no paid workers, thus all of their funds go to dog rescue.

They had reduced their adoption rates due to the economy for a period, but their vets have raised their fees and they are fighting to stay viable, so they are now setting them depending on their age and breed.

They remain to assure that their adoption fees are the lowest of any rescue.

EGRR has “Turkey dogs” for adoption, in addition to surrendered and rescued dogs.

These dogs were abandoned in Istanbul, and EGRR hopes to find them homes in the United States.
